"The Color Purple" hits theaters next week, and like many of you, we couldn't be more excited!  But #DYK that UNCSA School of Drama faculty member Krisha Marcano originated the role of Squeak on Broadway?

Recently, Krisha attended an advanced screening of the film adaptation at the Directors Guild of America Theater, where she had the opportunity to experience the bold new take on the beloved classic AND see Academy Award and GRAMMY-winning artist H.E.R.'s performance of Squeak — a role near and dear to her heart.

It was a night filled with reunions, tears, and, of course, many pictures (some that you can see below)!
